Dry needling and your feet
Dry needling is new to us here at Footrix Podiatry but the practice of it is definitely not new!
Dry needling has been around since the 1940s and works on the trigger points within the muscle. You know those little or sometimes big lumps or ‘knots’ that you can feel? That is generally a trigger point.
Dry needling is a very safe and effective way to remove or reduce trigger points that are causing you pain and discomfort. The process of dry needling is generally not painful as the needles are very fine but some patients report that they feel an aching sensation as the muscle contracts and then releases around the needle. Dry needling can be used on its own as a treatment or it can be used in conjunction with other therapies such a massage. One of the best things about these techniques is that the benefits are experienced almost immediately.
One of our patients recently tried dry needling and had this to say:
I was suffering with shin splints which had built up over time to be quite painful. Michael worked his magic with the dry needles and the relief was almost instant! I've tried everything, but this is the only thing that’s really worked for me. I’d recommend dry needling to anyone who is experiencing any sort of pain or soreness in their legs or feet.
So, if you are having pain or tightness during movement or your muscles are not working to the best of their ability, give us a call and book in for an assessment. At Footrix Podiatry, we love to keep you on your feet!
